Our History

To fully appreciate Saint Dominic Catholic Church, one must also come to understand the great efforts the African-American people have gone through to attain a place within the Catholic Church. Apart from the Christian mainstream world, our African ancestors built their churches with murals depicting the Virgin and the saints. We continue to celebrate our past and faith, recalling the events of our ancestors’ urban resettlement with hope, destiny, and faith they were able to persevere through great suffering.
